Getting started
What is Moony?
A monthly budget app in Hebrew and English. You enter your income, fixed expenses and how much you want to save, and one moon shows what is left for the month and the week, and whether your pace is on track.
Moony is not connected to your bank account, does not manage money and cannot charge a card.
How do I sign in? Is there a password?
You sign in with an Israeli mobile number and a 6-digit code sent by SMS. There is no password, and that is also how you sign in on a new phone.
If the code does not arrive, wait a minute and tap Send the code again.
Is there Moony for a computer or a tablet?
No. Moony is a phone app.
Payments that log themselves
How does it work on iPhone?
After an Apple Pay payment in a store, a small automation in Apple's Shortcuts app passes the amount and the merchant to Moony.
You set it up once, in Settings → Connections, following the guide in the app. The payment waits for your approval in Waiting for approval.
Moony does not access Wallet and never receives a card number or a balance.
How does it work on Android?
Moony reads the notification your card, bank or wallet app sends for each transaction. Turn it on in Settings → Connections and give Moony notification access in your phone's settings.
Moony reads only notifications from card, bank and wallet apps. From each one it keeps only the amount, the merchant, the last 4 digits and the time, and the notification text never leaves your phone. You can turn the access off at any time.
A payment did not come in. What now?
- iPhone: in the Shortcuts app, check that the Wallet automation exists and is set to run immediately.
- Android: check that notification access is still on and that your card app sends a notification for every transaction. Some phones also need Moony to be allowed to run in the background.
- You can always add an expense by hand, from a screenshot of your transaction list, or from a statement file (Excel or CSV) from your card issuer's website.
- If it keeps happening, write to us at moonysupport@gmail.com.
Couple accounts
What is a couple account, and what does my partner see?
A couple account is one budget for the household, and each of you signs in with your own phone number. You invite with a 6-character code, valid for seven days.
- Your partner sees your name, the income you entered, the shared budget and the expenses you confirmed.
- Private expense: mark each expense on its own. Your partner sees only how many private expenses you had in the month and their total, with no details.
How do I leave a couple account?
Settings → Leave the couple account. Your expenses move to a personal account.
Your account and privacy
What happens when I sign out?
Settings → Sign out. Your data is removed from the phone and stays in your account, and it comes back the next time you sign in. Sign out while online, so everything you logged is uploaded first.
How do I delete my account?
- In the app: Settings → Delete account. In a personal account, the account, expenses, cards and settings are deleted, from the server and the phone. In a couple account, your information is deleted and the couple account stays with your partner.
- Without the app: write to moonysupport@gmail.com with the account's phone number. We may ask you to confirm the request is yours.
Is my information safe?
Moony never stores a full card number, a password or a balance, only a card name and its last 4 digits. Traffic to the server is encrypted, there are no ads, and we do not sell information.
